National School Counseling Week 2022, “School Counseling: Better Together,” sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 7–11, 2022, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems and how students are different as a result of what school counselors do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.
The special week honoring school counselors provides recognition for school counselors who implement comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century.
Join NCA in celebrating our School Counselor, Ms. Rita Overmier. Thank you for all you do!
NCA will be on a two hour delay this morning (2/7/2022) due to poor road conditions.
The BeStrong February 2022 Volunteerism Challenge is anchored in practicing the six sustainable happiness skills- which both boosts mood and lower stress.
1) POSITIVE OUTLOOK: Each day, tag at least 3 friends in an uplifting or motivational picture online and write why you tagged them.
2) HUMAN CONNECTION: Don’t put people on blast. Think about when a private message or one-on-one conversation may be more appropriate than a public comment.
3) GENEROSITY: Each day, hold open the door for at least one person and compliment them.
4) MINDFULNESS: Each day, practice being kind to yourself. Treat yourself like you would treat your best friend.
5) GRATITUDE: Reframe your thoughts: be grateful for challenges that help you to grow.
6) PURPOSE: Think about the areas that you want to make positive changes and think of an emotional ‘why’ connected to that change (Ex. I want to be more respectful to other people, as I feel guilty for how I’ve treated others).

Did you know NCA hosts the We Dine Together Program on Fridays during lunch? We Dine Together was co-founded by high school student, Denis Estimon. Following graduation, Estimon brought We Dine Together to Be Strong, a student-led movement sweeping across schools around the world. Our family aims to provide a proactive & comprehensive solution to schools + communities. We Dine Together is our catalyst-for-change initiative in schools. We believe lasting relationships and impact happen over the table. Each We Dine Together family is led by a Be Strong Student State Representative (ours is NCA Senior, Carrisa LeSavage) - leading change monthly in four key areas: Resilience Training, Acts of Kindness, Advocacy and Awareness - all while maintaining our mission, so no one eats alone. To learn more about this program ask one of our Be Strong Members: Ethan Sprow; Emily Thomas; Stephanie Cheney-Sigero; Jalyn Harmon; Matt Mawhirter; Madi Courtney; Carrissa LeSavage; Josh Wolf; Jackie Faulkner; Autumn Taylor; Ari Espinosa-Snowden
