Attention NCA Parents/ Guardians: The organization, Sisters in Shelter, provides educational presentations in a variety of settings, such as schools, churches, organizations/businesses, etc. Sisters in Shelter will be presenting to the students of NCA to provide knowledge and understanding of Human Trafficking and its impact on our community and society. The Sisters in Shelter will be visiting NCA on Dec. 16th at 9:00am to educate NCA students on this very important topic.
You may or may not know, but as of June 2022, Ohio ranks fifth in the nation for human trafficking cases. However, Ohio's rate of human trafficking is 3.84 victims per 100,000 state residents, putting Ohio at the fourth worst ratio in the nation. Sisters in Shelter’s mission is to teach youth and adults on how to better identify and combat child trafficking in our community, educate students about the warning signs of exploitation and work to protect students from harm.
We are aware that this topic can be triggering for some students. If your student is someone who will be emotionally impacted by this discussion, please email Mr. Wolph at: mwolph@northcentralacademy.org Additionally, our Mental Health Counselor will be onsite during the presentation and afterwards if students need to talk.
