Today, North Central Academy hosted its first Career Café of the year! NCA Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors were invited to meet with several Northwest Ohio Industry Partners over breakfast. Partners provided insight into their respective industries, available job opportunities, future employment, and job-ready application materials such as resumes, references and cover letters.
Work-Based Learning Coordinator, Becky Bernard emphasized the value of events such as Career Cafes “experiences like this bridge the gap between local employers and the next generation workforce. These programs also offer the opportunity for the community to come into the school and see for themselves the quality educational experience NCA has to offer and the student’s employability. In exchange, our students get to see what their community has to offer and opportunities they may not have been aware of otherwise” said Bernard.
Students took advantage of this experience to highlight their networking and professionalism skills learned during their weekly OhioMeansJobs Readiness Seal class! The connections made today proved to be invaluable for the NCA students and Industry Partners alike. “Today’s event alone has opened up the door for on-site tours, employment opportunity and mentorship connections- all extremely valuable for our student’s future beyond NCA” said Bernard in closing.
